Welcome to the Introduction to Testing cycle. This is the first of six practice test cycles offered at the uTest Academy. 

What you will learn

  • Practice testing in live cycles
  • Claiming a slot 
  • Completing a test case
  • Reporting a valid bug 
  • Creating screenshots

What you should do in this cycle

  • Read the entire overview of this test cycle 
  • Accept the cycle invitation
  • Claim a slot with the device you will use to test
  • Complete the test case and submit it by clicking on 'Submit Results'​ button
  • Test the in scope product and try to find a valid bug
  • Submit only 1 valid bug report by clicking on 'Report Issue'​ button
  • Respond to any info request messages
    • In case of non-response after 48 hours or two reminders from the TTL, issues will be rejected immediately

Requirements for passing this cycle

  • One approved bug report
  • One approved test case

Important Notes:

  • You will not be able to sign up for the next Academy cycle until you have passed this cycle
  • The pass grade will be assigned 12 to 24 hours after you have completed the cycle requirements and your work is approved
    •  Or when the cycle is closed

In Scope

Test URL

  • https://www.versace.com/us/en/
    • Local sites are in scope
    • The focus should be on the EU, US, and Asia versions, and only test your local site if it is available; otherwise, test the US or EU versions in English
    • It is not acceptable to test other local sites while you are not located there
    • It is not acceptable to test in a different language while you do not understand the language or using translation tools such as Google Translate 

Focus Areas

  • Create an account and adjust preferences
  • UI: Ensure all page elements are consistent like buttons, links, images, text, and video across the most popular browsers
  • Store Locator: Find a boutique
  • Site Search: Ensure results are relevant and the search function works as expected
  • Category Pages: Filter, sort, add to wishlist
  • Product Pages: Product details, share, change color/size, add to wishlist, add to bag
  • Complete the checkout flow up until processing payment (DO NOT complete placing an order)
  • Wishlist: Add, remove, and manage products on the wishlist

  • Android Mobile phones and Tablets
  • iOS Mobile phones and iPads

Out of Scope

Out of Scope Areas

  • Contact Us: Send Message, Call Us
  • Partner and External websites are OOS. Example: Versace Watches Stores, Investor Relations

Avoid Doing

  • Do not complete any orders or make any purchases. No reimbursement will be done
  • Do not try to add any debit or credit cards or any payment methods to the account
  • Do not use third party apps while testing the website such as google translate

Do Not Report

  • In this Academy cycle, please submit only one issue report (don't submit a second issue)
  • Do not report Accessibility, Usability and Security issues: https://www.utest.com/academy/tracks/34
  • Do not report issues that cannot be reproduced more than twice
  • Do not report issues that are not on the testing website in the in scope
  • Do not report issues that are not visible to regular users (Including errors in the console logs)

Minor Issues

  • Landscape mode issues in mobile device browser 
  • Desktop view issues in mobile device browser

Environments - Browsers 

  • Internet Explorer browser
  • Never use emulators, simulators

Rules of Engagement

  • Do not break the uTest Guidelines: https://www.utest.com/utest-guidelines
  • Do not suggest in any way on the test website that you are testing, use the product like a real user (do not use "tester", "test" for your name, comment, etc.)
  • Do not use VPN

Setup Instructions

  • Clear the browser's cache and cookies before starting to test

  • Disable any ad-blocker or script blocker which may affect the website

Issue Reporting Instructions

Always make sure you’re following all the rules of reporting a bug as described https://www.utest.com/courses/bug-report-information-fields

Title Format

  • Device - Area - Description of the issue

    • Windows 10 - PLP - Sorting products by price High to Low gives incorrect results

    • iPhone 14 Pro Max - Search Results Page - Searching for 'Trousers' gives incorrect results

Required Attachment

  • A highlighted screenshot (e.g. red rectangle around the bug) in .jpg or .png format

Test Case Instructions

  • Complete the test case within the specified time

  • Make sure to submit the test case after completing it
